The flag of bangladesh during liberation war.
The Bangladesh Liberation War(Bengali: Muktijuddho) between West Pakistan (now Pakistan) and, India and East Pakistan, resulted in East Pakistan's independence as the new nation of Bangladesh. The war, started on 26 March 1971 as an uprising in East Pakistan led by the Mukti Bahini. Indian support for the rebellion resulted in war between India and Pakistan (the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971), during which the Indian military and the forces of Mukti Bahini decisively defeated the West Pakistani forces deployed in the East resulting in the largest surrender, in terms of the number of POWs, since World War II.
